Bill Bleak, the Gunslinger Defiant

Post by AnemicRoyalty » Mon Jan 26, 2009 10:09 am

Bill Bleak
Gunslinger Defiant
AGI; Order.

An anachronism... a man lost in time, a man out of time.

His weapons breathe fire and spit hot metal.
Although he is living flesh and blood, he enters battle already dead.

He called himself a poet and a painter.
Now he is a killer of Baneite men.

And his poetry is writ in blood.

Level 1 Skill:
Trigger Happy
  • Instant Cast
Rapidly attacks every enemy in range for X damage on each target, then Blinds the hero for Y seconds.
Level 1 Skill:
Sniper Shot
  • Target Unit, Enemy.
Takes aim for X seconds, then shoots the target for (Y+Attack Damage). Hero is Ruined during casting and for Z seconds afterwards.
Level 1 Skill:
Quickdraw
  • Instant Cast, Self.
Purges all conditions on the hero and causes Bill Bleak's other abilities to have a 2 second cooldown for X seconds per condition purged on the hero.
Level 6 Ultimate:
Blaze of Glory
  • Instant Cast, Self.
    Must be <40% health.
Inflicts the hero with Bleed and increases damage done by attacks and abilities by X%. Lasts Y seconds or until Bleed is removed.
My attempt at a gunman hero, cookie goes to anyone who gets the reference in the story :D

First of all, kudos on making a good hero, though I am a little chagrined that you ALSO made a Gun hero which blows mine out of the water, at least imo :( I believe your reference is to the Gunslinger, from Stephen King's Dark Tower series.

Hrmm... Regardless, I still <3 Santiago, as I think he's the first half-decent hero i've put together in a while :D

Volunteering? I've got an Izen Rein that could use some love, if you'd be interested. We could always make his blood brother too, afterall..

...Yet...! Shit, if you make the model I'll learn to animate the thing. I'll just have to get used to 3DSM5. I can always harass Jiggy for help or something.

Hrmm... After looking at your hero again, he seems to give off a "pistol" vibe, which kinda makes Sniper Shot seem out of place. Maybe a new name? "Trick Shot" or somesuch. Either way, I suggest a name change.

Dunno why, but your skills seem a bit scattered to me. Quick Draw seems more like an Ult, since it causes ALL of Bill's abilties to have an X cooldown instead of their normal ones.

Trigger Happy also seems a bit counter-productive, since the mainstay of an Agility/Ranged hero is their ability to hit accurately. This wouldn't be too much of a problem in and of itself, but Bill has no other real AoE, making him hampered immensely by the Blind, at least imo. This is countered in part by Quick Draw's "Remove all conditions", but it's still debilitating. Story-wise, I can see it, since he'd fire off so many damn shots he'd be blinded by the smoke from his own guns

Blaze of Glory... I'm a little leery about the 40% health stipulation. I can see what you were going for, with the "Going out in a blaze of glory" and what not, but the health requirement seems to put it out of action most of the time. I like Ults that I can always use, not ones that I have to practically die for. Making it a passive ability with 40%/60%/80% might offset that, but that's just one solution I can think of.

I still think your hero has potential, and it definetly has a nicer Title than mine, but here's hoping i've helped you in some way.

I even found a pictar <.<

Too western for my blood. I'm thinking something on the lines of Hanz-ish.

Neither Izen nor Zeek are styled quite like Hanz. There really isn't an "Asian" race in the AotZ world. The valley of the defiant is home to the closest people we have to real Asians, and even they are nothing like, say, Loki.

They sure as hell aren't western, though.

When you say close to Asians you mean like race type Asian or Anime/Asian-movies Asian?

I was imagining Izen/Zeek in a more hanz-like clothing for some apparent reason. I hope it ain't the classic tea sipping, kimono wearing, and ninja secret society. lol

No, no Kimono. They aren't tea-party individuals and certainly aren't stereotypical British. If I had to liken Zeek and Izen to anything, I'd probably liken them in attitude to a pair of New York, white punks with a craving for adventure and riches.

Race-type Asian. There are distinct physical attributes you can see on a person and go "He's Asian" in real life. On the contrary, those physical features really don't exist in such grandeur in the AotZ universe. The only real thing from Asians that those from the valley of the defiant have is thin hair, light skin, and soft skin. It's like a healthy blend of European and Asian, I guess.
