Dungeon Depths Challenge

This place was made by the Deathand, and the Deathand keeps it. Open to those who have no qualms about talking chances, or enjoy a good competition. Haven holds events for users to gain Operator Points for use of Favor, or a trick or two. Who knows...you might even get inducted into the Order of Secrets...

Dungeon Depths Challenge

Post by Kaome Sky Deathand » Tue Jan 06, 2009 2:52 am

Alright.
Since the lot of you have decided to join in on the plundering of the 100 level caves, I have decided to allow your challenge.

1st and foremost I need a Regent, someone who both knows the game, and will be able to doll out challenges for both newbies and veteran alike, and Bonus Challenges for the more advanced players.
A few people come to mind, but I'll let the PMs decide that one....feel free to talk amongst yourselves as well.
Hito, your offer of 35 OP has now been accepted by the Order.

2nd, as Blankie, bless his spirit, was kind enough to allow me my own travels ala Diablo style, I will extend the offer to those of you who are leery about the Angbang of Angband and would rather play something a little more to their style.
I accept Diablo and Diablo: Hellfire as suitable games and I will handle your challenges myself.

The board is yours gentlemen (and possible ladies) let me know when you have reached a verdict.

I suspect Hito wants to be Mr. Dungeon Master Fellow Thing this go around. I'd have nothing against that. I think Diablo 1 and Hellfire would be cool, but unfortunately the games didn't offer a Hardcore mode (Which I find to be the most riveting aspect of Angband). Oh well, though.

I also assume it will start soon from your support and Hito's posts.

I could do the first one and get the ball rolling. But, when it comes to challanges and stuff, you're a lot better at Angband than I am. :p

Interestingly enough, I have both Diablo (no Hellfire) and Angband (now).
Can I participate in both challenge types?
If there was an OP prize, would there be a chance to get both prizes if one were to legitimately win at both?

At this point, I am under the impression there isn't an OP prize anyway. However, I am willing to donate any of my OP to a winner's pot that the runner-ups and winners can win, or something along the lines of that. So yeah, I'm willing to donate all of my OP as a winner's prize.

I can trudge ahead and try to burn a path to hell for us, Hito. I don't mind.

Have you reached a verdict?

To Hydro One or the other will do. Both might leave you strained to reach one goal or the other.

I have one quick question: When the challenge officially starts, do we need to start a character over or can we use one that we have leveled some already?

It would be best if you started over so we're all on the same level. Also, Kao, Hito will begin and introduce everything since it was his idea, then I will carry the group onward from there.

Very well.
Hito, the floor is yours.

Feel free to use this thread as a place to ask questions.

Allow for OP award depending on the difficulty Hito.
If I think it's too much or not enough I will let you know.
Dusk should be able to throw out numbers as well.
I'll trust you on this.

All righty. I'll keep this first one really small because it's super easy. But I'll make it bigger as time goes on.

Just a note, post those dumps in code tags. Makes them more readable (spaces are taken into account).
look here!

Code: Select all

  \ \ / \___/ OO\
   \ \__/ /\ \
    \_____\ \___\ \_____/ \OO/
          /__\ /__\
