Eragon
For all of my Eragon gripes, and yours! My latest being:
BRISINGR, although I'd prefer to call it BRISINGRERAGONCHEAPINEEDMONEYZATTEMPTBYASTUPIDPOSER
Ahem. I've kept that bottled up for a while.
http://www.shurtugal.com/?news=605
In addition to the announcement of the book title, Random House has changed the release date of Brisingr from September 23, 2008 to September 20, 2008, after an out-pouring of enthusiasm from book sellers and fans to hold midnight release parties on Friday night, September 19th. The book will now go on sale at 12:01 AM on Saturday, September 20th, 2008.
....Out-pouring of enthusiasm, eh? And midnight parties? I'll have to go throw multiple copies of Pawn of Prophecy at them.

I despise Paolini and his books. The first one was okay, but now hes just riding on his tidal wave of success and cashflow.

Re: Eragon
If anything the first one was worse then the second...not to say the second was actually good at all.
But I've already stated my opinions on Eragon...really no use doing so again. <_<

Re: Eragon
I just got the first book... havn't read more than a few pages though.
It seems ok, but I won't know until I get farther. I havn't read too many fantasy books except when I was younger, back then, I read the chronicles of narnia (and I forgot most of the details...), the first 4 HP books, and more recently and still... every single R.A. Salvatore book... or every one in his primary story, at least, if he has more.
Eragon seems ok so far, but I keep hearing bad things about it. I'll read it and see for myself in any case.
Edit: Now that I think about it, I also read a few or all of the dragon song books (or w/e you call them) on a vacation a few years ago. That one had dragons >.>... and was good I thought, but not the most compelling story, not that I remember the details from a book I read when I was 12.
Anyway, i'm going to read it now after I finish watching the movie The Matrix Revolutions.

Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

Re: Eragon
The very first magical word of uberpower that Eragon pulls out of his ass....I'm serious about that. He shoots an arrow at an Urgal (Orc), and yells Brisingr for no good reason. The only time he had heard it was when Brom said it, and Eragon assumed he was cussing. Does Eragon like to swear when he kills?Loki wrote:Wtf is a BRISINGR >_>;BRISINGR

Re: Eragon
Whatever you do, don't watch the movie.
THE most pile of cr*p I have ever seen. You think the books are lame...
Ugh.

Re: Eragon
I saw the commercials for the movie, and decided from then I wasn't going to see it. I never watch a movie that looks like its going to be horrible.
And I read a few more pages of the book... and it isn't all that great. It sounds like what I would have written if I had slightly more talent at writing but were an 8 year old >.>...

Re: Eragon
I'm fairly certain Paolini had little to no skill while writing at the age of 15.
Authors the age of like... 24 usually aren't too successful...

The enemy are in disarray, ride them down as they run
Send them to their violent graves, don't spare anyone
Dead and wounded lie all around, see the pain in their eyes
Over the field an eerie sound, as we hear the raven's cry

Re: Eragon
So, you mean to tell me that there is a man, who shoots an Urkel(Why did you have to do that D:) with an arrow yelling in some unknown belligerent language? I think I'm done here. lol
Let's do what comes naturally
I'll be waiting in Haven.

Re: Eragon
Mhm. It's the vague equivalent of you shooting a Nazi while yelling "F&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&ck!!!"
Edit: Nazis aren't plot devices, though.

Re: Eragon
That's a more abrupt turn of events than the deaths in Caché or Pulp Fiction...
He probably just wanted to introduce MAGIX LULZ for no evident reason, and if he had one, FAILED at implementing it. Utterly.

Re: Eragon
Pretty sure he did it for the Lulz, since Dragon Riders must have magick! Yes! And he's a genius, because he discovered it on his own! Brilliant!
Also lets throw in some plot devices and twists that are markedly similar to several successful literary works! By jove I think we've got a best seller here!
Bah.

Errrrm... Brisingr... Wtf kind of a word is that and where does its grammar come from. 'r' right after a 'g...' seriously, wtf was he thinking? How could he have made a bigger idiot out of himself?
Ugh, i'm so glad we don't have a bunch of Paolini fanbois...

Re: Eragon
Oh Eragon.
I read it out of curiousity since it seemed so popular and my school library just happened to have a copy.
It was hilarious. I consider it the worst book I've ever read.
Seriously, I wrote like that when I was twelve. (Slight exaggeration)
Look at Eragon and tell me the world isn't retarded...
