Roll to Dodge

The epic forum game comes to VZ, hosted by the best Laughing God around.

Rules by Korejora from the mafiascum.net forums.
Rules are very simple.

Step 1) Do stuff.

Step 2) I roll a die and tell you what actually happens.

If something is coming to hit you, even if it's not your turn, you'll get a roll to dodge it. You lose if you die. You win if all the other players have lost (though feel free to cooperate regardless).

Updates will happen randomly, resolving any outstanding actions players have taken. Anyone can join or leave at any time. Inactive players will be removed from the action; should they rejoin they will be in the same place that they were when they left.

Restrictions:
- Any action impossible without an intermediate action will automatically fail, regardless of the roll. (Example: Trying to walk when you are laying on the floor without standing first.)
- You cannot take the same action twice in a row.
- Only the first thing in a compound action will be used. (Example: "I get the shirt and I put it on" will be resolved as "I get the shirt".)
- If multiple actions are submitted before the turn is resolved, only the first action will be used.

Rolls are on a normal die with six sides. The higher the roll, the more successful the action was. The more ambitious the activity is, the harder it is to succeed and the more dire the consequences of failure.

1 - Epic failure. (Opposite of original intention occurs.)
2 - Failure.
3 - Marginal success.
4 - Success.
5 - Perfect success.
6 - Overshot.

There is virtually no limit to what you can do. Don't go too far, though; you have a 50% chance of something going wrong.

You begin the game face-down on a bed next to any other players there might be, with one computer and one copy of WC:III at the other end of the room.

Sign up by posting an action. If the game moves out of the starting room, latecomers will be added as close to the current players as possible.
For the record, YOU don't roll the die. Just do one thing. Updates will start fast so people can understand how the game works. Anyone can join at any time by saying their first action. Don't ask any rules questions, just try something and find out.

From mafiascum, though, I bring a few examples.
You are lying face-down on a bed naked. There is a shirt and a pair of pants on the floor at the other end of the room.
Player: I win.
(1) You lose.
You have lost the game.

You are lying face-down on a bed naked. There is a shirt and a pair of pants on the floor at the other end of the room.
Player: I get up.
(3) You tumble out of the bed, landing next to it.
Player: I jump out the window.
(4) You jump out the window. You are now falling.
Roll to dodge the ground: 2
Your neck is broken by your failed landing.
You are dead. You have lost the game.

You are lying face-down on a bed naked. There is a shirt and a pair of pants on the floor at the other end of the room.
Player: I get the pair of pants.
(5) You wriggle around on the bed.
Player: I get up.
(4) You stand up at the side of the bed.
Player: I become a cat.
(3) You spontaneously sprout fur and whiskers.
Player: I become a demigod.
(5) You now wield phenomenal cosmic power.
Player: I smite those unworthy mortals.
(2) You miss the unworthy mortals.
Player: Dammit, I said I smite those unworthy mortals!
(4) You cannot take that action; your previous action is too similar.
Player: I become a full-fledged god.
(1) You lose all of your power and become mortal again.
Player: I go get the pants.
(5) You do a flip as you sail through the air, landing on one foot next to the pants as you kick them up into your hands with the other. You have acquired the pants.
Player: I put the pants on.
(6) You don the pants with such vigor that they tear in half as you yank them on.
Player: I become a god.
(1) You unmanifest yourself from existence.
Player: I get the shirt.
(3) You cannot take that action; you do not exist.
Player: I exist.
(6) You reappear in the world. Twice. Your double attacks you.
Roll to dodge your double: 4
You successfully dodge.
Player: I kill my double.
(1) You kill yourself.
You are dead. You have lost the game.
So get to it.

Oh, and yes, I change the naked bed to WC:III. I figured it fit the forum. xD

It's like a comedic RP of sorts. It starts with the one room with the computer and WC:III, and where it goes from there depends on what happens. The rules say it's "competitive" but in practice it's more about doing stuff and not dying. xD

EDIT PS: What happens when you die? Can you just restart or are you out forever?

[Note: most people are clad in pjs. Logue has maximum style.]

And when you die, you're not really out of the game. I kinda forgot I was dealing with an older set of rules, there were changes on the original site and there will be changes here. Being dead is it's own set of challenges. Basicially, you can still play, and it's harder to do some things and easier to do others. However, it's generally agreed on that it's much harder to win if you are dead.

[Also, side note, consider this the "beta test". If/when I get enough people playing this and all of the rules kinks straighted out, I'll make a second thread without all the rules chatter and much more fun]
