The Amazing Reverse Order Topic Explanation Topic

Post by VZhitogoroshi » Sun Feb 24, 2008 7:04 pm

Actually, on further reflection I feel I should explain it. While it's funnier without preamble, I don't trust you guys. :p

With the Amazing Reverse Order Topic (which I will post soon) it starts with someone (me :p) making a post declaring why they feel the topic should be closed. Then the other person posts whatever the "last straw" was. Then it progresses from there. Other rules -

-No quoting posts. That would make you magic, you see. All of your posts have to be made with complete ignorance to all posts previously made in the Amazing Reverse Order Topic (called AROT to save space).

-Conversely, you can quote posts that HAVEN'T been made yet and then the person in question is honor-bound to post that. Thus 1.) Make sure the person you quote is active in the AROT and 2.) Keep it in good taste. Don't quote someone saying "EVERYONE I'M DUMB" because the point of the AROT is to flow.

-There are generally two kinds of posts in an AROT - Reactionary (doing what someone is complaining about someone else doing) or Active (reacting to an event that hasn't happened, like when you pre-quote.) Please, please, please, THINK before you active post. This has to be smart.

It took me a bit to grasp the concept, but this sounds like a lot of fun. Unfortunately, I don't trust anybody to actually follow the rules. So the idea is to react to something made up, then the next person has to realize it? For dramatic effect, you could make the starting post say that you closed the topic.

When will you post this topic?

Even more dramatic, have an ADMIN say they closed the topic (Although obviously keep it open)

Sounds like a fun bit of wordplay. I think I will join in.

I will just say it's closed.

And I guess I'll start now...I'm not that optimistic, though, the first AROT on a forum tends to fail (yes, I've done this before ;).) So for this AROT only you can have OOC comments. keep them in [[these guys]] so at the conclusion of the AROT a mod/admin can delete everything inside [[brackets!]] and it will look more solid.

[EDIT: Actually, instead of OCC comments in the thread, voice criticisms in this one.]

[EDIT EDIT: Good start, though I must inform you of the round rule of sensibility. I mention Daryll in the OP. Now, it's reasonable that Dayrll may not be the person who posts directly after me, but no one should post TWICE before he brings up what is referenced. Also, because Vesuvan mentions no names, the person DIRECTLY before him DOES need to reference gameboys in microwaves. The best post would be Dayrll saying "Did you know that you can get a super rare pokemon in Pokemon gold if you put your gameboy in the microwave?" right after vesu. Get it?]

Okay, double post because obviously my edit will be unread otherwise.

Logue, look carefully at what happened. You're now saying that Vesu is "off topic to the max" and no one else, since you've sandwiched him between two posts before the "gameboy microwave" was posted.

Please edit this post by putting in something that specifically address's vesuvan, like "Seriously, who would do that?". Trust me, in the current order that post makes no sense. :p

well, maybe there is a way to make this make sense. both me and logue posted about how ridiculous the hypothetical suggestion was, and he just so happened to post afterwards how off-topic it was getting.

I have painted myself into a corner because now I cannot post again until somebody tells us to microwave a gameboy

That would work as well, Vesu. He still needs to edit the post, but he has choice about how to do it.

See, with an AROT, you can't be post-happy. It kinda sucks, but if you try to post too much you ruin it.

Next time reference a cool game.

Like Fire Emblem. Or Final Fantasy Tactics...

Or anything that isn't pokemon. <_<

Isn't that kind of the point of doing this? To make fun of people?

No, the point of this is trying to make a weird topic that we conceivably could reverse and trick people into thinking it's a legit topic. :p

At the moment it just seems really random and weird...

I can't wait to find out what the original topic was lol.
