Fulgur, the Teslaean Construct

Post by TheDeathstalker » Mon Jan 05, 2009 5:36 am

Fulgur
Teslaean Construct
Intelligence; Bane

Story: Lightning Elemental, nuff said.

Inspired by: The Lightning Elemental

Innate:
High Voltage
  • This hero has no innate mana regeneration, but any damage it deals restores X% of that damage as mana.
Level 1 Skill:
Big Balls
  • Active
Fires a ball in a line that releases a lightning bolt for X damage every Y seconds, which applies maim for Z seconds.
Level 1 Skill:
Thunderstruck
  • Active AoE
Creates a “cloud” at target location, which shoots a lighting bolt in the area once every X seconds, dealing Y damage and applying maim for Z seconds.
Level 1 Skill:
Chase the Ace
  • Passive
Causes skills to seek after Maimed units (increasingly with level) and extend Maim by X% of it’s current duration.
Level 6 Ultimate:
The Razor’s Edge
  • Active
Fires X charged blades in lines in the target direction, dealing Y Physical Damage to struck units and extending bleed by Z.
Comments:
1)First off, this hero is a combined effort of Fiendshadow, Black_Heart and myself, just a bit of fun we were having in the channel.
2)The spells are meant to be low damage and spammable, the idea, at least in theory, is that if you aim well, you gain enough mana to keep going, if not, you quickly run out of steam. That, or you could horde up mana and just go nuclear on a hero, which works just fine too.
3) For the Ult, think Diablo's fire lines in terms of what it's doing, although they are just points moving along those lines.
And though you come out of each gruelling bout,
All broken and beaten and scarred,
Just have one more try—it’s dead easy to die,
It’s the keeping-on-living that’s hard.

That passive is actually really, really cool.

Nice name choice. Listened to AC/DC lately? :>

The name/title sounds really lame, though. You should try something more intuitive and more clever.

Yeah, Heart went to sleep by the time we got to the actual final name part, so I just threw something together, any suggestions for better ones? Also, yay for coming up with a cool passive!

Yeah, I missed it. I kinda like the Tesla that you worked in there, though.

Glad you like Death's passive, Dusk. :>

You know, I did come up with an unposted skillset for that hero model once upon a time. It's the skillset I was going to code for my wc3c to-do list.

Ok, while we still havn't come up with a better name (I believe Zizzit was in the lead when we stopped trying), we have our title: Shockstrike Vagrant, and at least the premise of our backstory:

Cocky student at the Academy with a talent for lightning joins work on a new weapon of sorts, which is loosely the badass mask the model has. Something goes wrong and he is "eaten" by the mask, and becomes the thing he is now. The Academy blames him for this, banishing him. Years later, Glasse is in charge and stumbles over the file about the project, eventually recruiting him for the Bane.

It's not much, but it's enough for now.

Also, Dusk, while you said the skill set was unposted, I was wondering either how close our concept was to yours, or preferably, what the skill set actually is, but I take it from the tone of the post that that's one of your well kept secrets.

Not really. As a matter of fact, it's awful. It makes certain items useless as they'd have to be nullified for the hero, and it doesn't actually have any bearing on how the hero plays at all.

That is my fault. Lesson learned - I do not make good innates. In the future, I shall remember this.

It's not anyone's fault, just saying.

The innate brings nothing. What if he just had mana instead of having to build it up? Nothing would be changed, practically.

Edit: should've read dusk's post.
