Lore Discussion

This is where all random discussion about DoE goes. If it doesn't feel like it fits anywhere else but is still related to the map, this is the place to post it.

So they're not gods in the omg supreme power sense, but just voidwalkers who decided to give power to lesser beings?

Who is 'they'? There are no Gods in my universe at all. And the only powers legitimately given are from VWs/AVWs that imbue their avatars, which is nothing akin to giving power to a lesser being.

I meant "gods" as taken from the viewpoint of Astelan, for example. You said that Astelan was not the avatar of whoever he prays to, but one who just receives some power.

Oh, yes:
"If God did not exist, man would invent him."

This is indeed true for my world. The antivoidwalkers as they make the world work are interpreted by the humans and other races as 'Gods,' when in fact they are just antivoidwalkers doing what they do. Also, you really need to not think of humans as lesser beings or whatever, because they are not. The elementals are not higher beings, they merely exist for a different reason. Many of the elementals (ie. Scamp, Forsaken One, etc.) lack the in-depth thought that the evolving races have, so are actually inferior in some regards.

Astelan's patron saint as he calls it is the Antivoidwalker of War, who is one of the few of the antivoidwalkers that recognizes the threat of the Bane and helps by helping Astelan/Victor/etc.

Then, do the Voidwalkers/Antivoidwalkers have an ultimate goal of their own? It seems they form no alliances other than that necessary, and even then not necessarily for the same reasons. What's the usual goal? Control?

Uh, well, the Voidwalkers consist of Exuro, Vert, Caliga, Kephket, Zivyral, and Anick, and it would hopefully be obvious that they indeed have a motive. (Not a common one, though) The antivoidwalkers are generally oblivious to the Bane, but those that aren't have a common goal in stopping them.

So there is only a tiny population of VW/AVWs, or at least a tiny population of named ones?

There are thousands of them, far more than I could feasibly name in a lifetime.

Who or what is Wyrm? Even a hint would do...

Is there any source of sheer arcane or mystical power other than Anti(VoidWalker) that can match the top six Anti(VoidWalker)?

Well, there really aren't a clear 'top six' for either voidwalkers or antivoidwalkers. For instance, Arro Kree could instakill Vert if he were in the right position. Myriad, for instance, could kill the entire council in one fell swoop if the odds were stacked in his favor. It's tough to call the council and their AVW counterparts the 'top' because it's too conditional to say.

The VWs and AVWs in general are the strongest things in the world, though. Well, unless you include the remaining pure elementals; those guys could singlehandedly destroy the VWs or AVWs in troves.

Well there are no wyrms, and the dragons are only dragons because they choose to be. (I think the difference is crucial) Zivyral is the Void Dragon, the Council Member of Corruption. His counterpart is the Antivoidwalker of the Sky.

Wait, is he not the Council Member: Agony? Then I was wrong, then.

What about the prophet?

Doesn't Zivyral work for Kephket? If so, I think Zivyral is corruption since he spreads Shadow(lol) because Kephket is the council member of shadow?

Wyrm from ZO? You were all like oh shi-.

Intoxicated: No I think they are separate entities. They are just named Voidwalkers of X. It just gives a hint of their powers for example Soulcatcher from The Black Company despite what the name suggests doesn't catch souls. It is just a cool nickname.
