Lore Discussion

This is where all random discussion about DoE goes. If it doesn't feel like it fits anywhere else but is still related to the map, this is the place to post it.

Is there any difference between:

- Voidwalker consuming an Anti-Voidwalker
- Anti-Voidwalker consuming a Voidwalker

Do they simply merge & become one being or does the consumer maintain dominance?

====

Are there any void walkers & counter-part anti-voidwalkers both seeking to consume each other?
Or are all anti-voidwalkers not interested?

====

In DoE/Aotz is there or will there ever be
A voidwalker + anti voidwalker counterparts in same map?

They cannot merge at all, the consumer simply takes the power of the consumed into it and becomes stronger as a result. It also takes remnants of the consumed's powers, allowing the consumer more versatile attacks and such in different scenarios. Both sides consume the other equally well and effectively, there's no real difference, just depends who is consuming whom.

AVWs generally don't care as the only benefit to consuming another is to get stronger. There's no real need to be stronger for an AVW since they're overly peaceful amongst themselves anyways and their strength is innumerable compared to those in their realm. The only reason characters like Astelan or the rest of them are powerful at all is because they have support from assorted AVW(s). Of course, the VWs and AVWs don't even know opposites exist. The AVWs are probably at the advantage in this regard because they know exactly what they're up against, whereas the VWs have virtually no clue what they are actually up against. Anick, for instance, had no clue what was happening when he was defeated by a lowly human, Astelan, the son of the guy he already killed! The only three VWs with any suspicion of what exactly is going on are Vertejaune (Who couldn't care less about Exuro's world domination scheme), Exuro (Obviously), and Zivyral (Who is still more superstitious about Exuro betraying him than anything else).

Probably not, simply by virtue that the AVWs are nearly entirely against interfering with the war directly. You practically play as AVWs though, who grant their powers in troves to the humans to stop the Bane.

Zivyral, Council Member of Agony, Voidwalker of Corruption, the Dragon.
If you want to know more about his specifics, you'll have to ask more specific questions!

How is he a prophet? And where does the title, the Dragon, come from? Or is it literal?

in theory, could a VW and an AVW voluntarily merge to become one perfect being?

Thats interesting, if so wouldn't they infact be in the very least a little stronger than if they had simply consumed their opposite?

===

Just to clarify thou, sorry may have been asked/stated before:

It is completely impossible for a VW to consume another VW or non opposite AVW & visa versa? Absolutely no way?
Couldn't perhaps some genius VW figure out a way?

Who, by AotZ, has already consumed their counterpart?

Correct, no VW has consumed an AVW by AotZ. The AVWs by their very nature defend themselves against it by not revealing themselves.

He is not a prophet himself, but his avatar is a false prophet in a sense. His avatar is a soulless husk that Zivyral projected his essence into, and he decided to name the husk after himself. This husk is therefore his prophet, a messenger of the power Zivyral controls... Rivalling that of Exuro by nearly threefold. And he is literally a dragon, his shape as it is commonly taken is a million black crystal shards that vibrate in and out of reality in ways that would drive a man to insanity simply by watching. The form these crystals take is a dragon whenever he is in his neutral state; he can, however, take any form he'd like, though this is the one he prefers.

Also, his avatar is a prophet in the sense that he also has a cult. Meridia and Qurahtas are the right and left hands of the dragon respectively and the Messenger (avatar) is the centerhead of the dragon. Just a bit of cult nomenclature for you. :p

It's interesting you ask that. If by some miracle of nature an AVW and a VW both consented to merging, it would more than likely result in their annihilations, but there's a slim chance that they could form something else. The thing here is that even if they merged like this, they would be nowhere near as powerful as their pure elemental form was before the cataclysm. That split is permanent in all forms of the word, it took the power of a collapsing star raining down on the planet for that to even occur, the energy needed to be input to reverse it is beyond physical reason. Even if it were reasonable, it's still impossible simply by the nature of evolution; it might have worked when they were freshly split, but a millennium after the fact it is an unreal goal. (Notably, a breach between worlds was not discovered until like 800 years post cataclysm)

A VW cannot consume a VW, they simply do not merge in such a manner. If it could have been done, Exuro would never have invaded the Antivoid and would have already taken over the Void singlehandedly. There is absolutely no way to mix like elementals in any way, shape, or form. Hell, a VW might be able to wield the weapon imbued with another VW's essence, but it would clash with their own and not increase their powers at all. (Whereas a human or baneite with such a weapon becomes significantly stronger, ie. Tornne/Rikter)

How's religion for humans, and baneites? Do all of them know about VW's or AVW's? Do they all know about the war?

Uhm, well of course the baneites do, they get shanghaied into the armies of the voidwalkers assuming they don't get killed by them first. The only legitimate free city of baneites is watched over by Vertejaune and his generals, otherwise living outside of that city practically seals your fate to either death by voidwalker or potential enlistment. It's a brutal world in the Void, and yes, many Baneites regard the voidwalkers as Gods, this is why there exist cults and such.

In that same light, many humans have assertions that Gods exist as well, but the very beings they worship are the AVWs. For instance, Astelan and Victor's God is the AVW of War, who is actually the counterpart to Anick. Realistically though, none of the humans actually know about the AVWs, the AVWs prevent that from happening. (There are of course exceptions, but they are few and far between)

On the topic of who exactly is who, who's Chips and Ort? I know they're similar to Scamp (and have heard Ort does pretty cool stuff... like fusing bricks to faces...), but that's about it. What are they exactly?

I seem to recall Chips being the main enemy in Advent Vertigo; he's an imp, but that's about all I remember.
