Is it time for a new condition?
Is it time for a new condition?
I see an ever increasing number of heroes that want invisibility, and Caliga already has Etherealness. Why not make a condition named Fade, which has the singular effect to... I haven't decided, either turn invisible, or make Ethereal... maybe both?
If both, it should break on attack (and still allow attacks when Ethereal, but breaking Etherealness)... but then again it seems rigged because Etherealness = Invincibility to melee, and if one is invisible at the same time... well... it's basically a guarunteed escape. Maybe it would remove the hero dot from the minimap (or turn it into a creep dot) and fade the user 100%? I dunno, I'm fiddling with this. If a condition is completely out of the question due to the current # of conditions, well, I'm sorry
Oh, and sorry for posting it in the wrong thread, I had a brainfart.

Condition doesn't affect allies, you know.
And not that much heroes used invisibility anyway.

Without reading anything posted in this thread, I can safely say no.Wufei wrote:Is it time for a new condition?

Invisibility is a positive condition, and so is ethereal ( at least, 95% of the time ) and so I thought conditions were only negativeRising_Dusk wrote:Without reading anything posted in this thread, I can safely say no.Wufei wrote:Is it time for a new condition?

Re: Is it time for a new condition?
Well, after actually reading the thread, everything said so far is true. Conditions are all negative no matter what, that's part of the design. I also can't think of any other effect that I'd like to add without convoluting the idea of conditions. 7 is already a bit tight, excluding stun/knockdown, anymore might develop the map away from a tight and interactive design. (That's bad)

Re: Is it time for a new condition?
Invisibility and ethereal are more like states. Not sure about Stun though it behaves as a condition and as a state as well.

Except stun is negative, whereas invisibility and ethereal are positive.

Re: Is it time for a new condition?
frankly, the current conditions have everything pretty much covered. Freeze? cripple or stun. Poison? burn or bleed. Anything fancier than that should be done with abilities or not at all. Only opening i see for a new condition would be something like a magical Ruin that increases damage taken from spells.

Exhaustion : Lowers mana regeneration by X and spells cooldown X% slower
or
Exhaustion : Lowers mana regeneration by X and takes X% more damage from spells
I really don't think DoE needs more conditions... but w/e

Actually, I could make ruin work on spell damage as well (That's the most intellectual solution), but God knows people would cry imba.

Re: Is it time for a new condition?
Wait, Dusk, you can make people take more damage from spells? I thought you had said that negative spell resistance isn't possible?

Re: Is it time for a new condition?
There's an alternate form of Anti-Magic Shield that makes a buff that reduces damage from spells. You can set that to negative. I'm not sure if that's what Dusk is using, though.
