Random Person at the TCG Forums Starts a DOE vs. DOTA Poll

Someone whom has not played with us before started this thread in the DotA sub-forum. In 24 hours, it gathered nearly 300 replies and about half as many votes.

Dota - 85 (51.5%)
DoE - 40 (24.2%)
[uncertain] - 19 (11.5%)
anime fight ! - 7 (4.2%)
Element TD ! - 14 (8.5%)

The thread was eventually moved into the Custom Maps sub-forum by a moderator, and the replies have mostly ceased. Not bad for a DotA forum, if I do say so myself. I think the point this makes, though, is that DoE is beginning to take off on this private server.

The fact that 40 people even know what DoE is is impressive enough for me, let alone that they actually voted for it over DotA. I guess I'd better not screw up 1.09, eh? Honestly though, the only things I understand in most threads over there are the smileys. I'm guessing lots of are a good thing!

That was the reaction that was expected after I keep talking about doe in dota topics.

It could also be all the Dota ppl, purposely voting for another map, to try and 'worry' IceFrog so he'll put more effort into the next patches.

As I quite frequently see comments, calling for IceFrog to step down and let someone else update the map.

Nota bene: Rising_Dusk and Pyrogasm have joined the active team. We're going to finish this motherfucker goddamnit.

We're coders to help the project get done sooner rather than later, that's about it. Ideas only insofar as to how things will get coded.

True, a lot of the gameplay stuff has already been decided, but you're already having an impact on the implementation of That Which Shall Not Be Named. And there are still those ability holes waiting to be filled, which you and Pyro as well as erwt and Chriz will hopefully have ideas for. And once we get the first release out and proceed to items it's going to be a goddamn free for all. I have very little planned for the items. And then there are the new heroes.

Dusk is helping them finish O. Kaz had to recode the map twice already, and methinks he quit.

As for the thread link, I've updated my first post to include it.

edit: Really? That seems quite unfair if you're going to recode the map entirely.

Idea implementation, project direction, coding, etc. Being an ordinary forum goer, I can only speculate as to why he needs more help.

It was me telling about "Unless Icefrog stop making the map, DoE may had a chance to be as popular.
But again, even if icefrog stopped, there's many others who will continue."


Also, a note: Icefrog doesn't give half a damn about TCG community...ever.
