Or just modify the effect in the fan of knives, so that it trails gray instead of green.

That aside, I think we can use the "expanding" blade. Quite simple, freeze the animation when you wanted it to "stack" almost on top of each other. But for other skill, increase the animation speed and stop when it fully expands. (Bladestorm maybe?)
But it won't wobble this way, though.
