Kill/assist system misinterpreting deaths from buff damage.

This is where all discussion of WC3 mapmaking should be held. This forum exists particularly for mapmaking needs. If you have a question on how something works or have need for some code review, this is the place to put it.

Kill/assist system misinterpreting deaths from buff damage.

Post by Greenspawn » Fri Apr 30, 2010 10:34 pm

So I've got an ability that deals damage per second via a buff (like shadow strike), but I want it to count as a kill for the caster when the unit dies from buff damage. Right now it just says something like:

Player 4 has been killed by !

or if I deal other damage to it (like with attacks), then:

Player four has been killed by with assistance from Greenspawn!

is there a way to make buff damage come from a player? or is there another way to design the assist/kill system such that it accounts for this accurately?
