Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne Battle.net
Let us discuss WC3 BNet as it stands and how it will fare or not in the future.
We all know my opinion of course.
WC3 BNET IS THE BESTEST OF ALL YES

I think it depends on whether or not there is a Starcraft version of DotA. Where DotA goes, BNET players go. Although I'm pretty sure Blizzard is planning on making Starcraft Bnet cost money, so that might help retain some WC3 Bnet people.

Where did you hear this? It was my understanding that Blizzard prided themselves on the fact that Bnet is and always will be free...snakehawk37 wrote:Blizzard is planning on making Starcraft Bnet cost money
And though you come out of each gruelling bout,
All broken and beaten and scarred,
Just have one more try—it’s dead easy to die,
It’s the keeping-on-living that’s hard.

Yeah, it's pretty much their main selling point. I'm sure Blizzard's popularity would crash faster than the market shares if they tried to charge for BNet.
Can you hear them?

I've heard that too, but it would fail for obvious reasons.
Your move.

They charge WoW, still raping the market. What's the difference?

We like our BNet free, thank you very much.
Now, a real dick move is disabling the majority of the content then add premium accounts that allows you to gain access to said-content.

Sounds like Runescape to me.Loki wrote:We like our BNet free, thank you very much.

They did say that they would make some other things cost money though, so it could be.

*cough* I doubt they'll make BNet pay-to-play.Sabertooth wrote:Sounds like Runescape to me.Loki wrote:We like our BNet free, thank you very much.

There was an article out there when a Blizzard representative would like to.. Monetize BNet if that's even a word.

They're.
Going.
To.
Get.
Lynched.
Think about it, a pretty big chunk of Asia plays it, and I'm guessing the "Crazy serial killer" demographic is in there too...

Re: Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne Battle.net
They also said that they're taking out being able to play over LAN. So, basically, if you want to play with other people, you have to pay. Ugh...

Re: Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne Battle.net
If I have to pay to use BNet, Blizzard loses a customer. Period.

Re: Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne Battle.net
Of course they're going to lose customers. But think of the dumbasses that'll still pay for their B.Net. They're going to lose customers if they charge, but they'll make a lot more money charging people instead of leaving it for free.
I wouldn't be surprised if they made it pay for play. It'd suck, sure, but that wouldn't completely kill the Blizzard franchise.
