Err.. help

Post by Thanatos » Thu Jan 31, 2008 7:51 pm

Ok so my family is planning to get a pet of some sort.. we narrowed it down to two options. Now we're having difficulties deciding. I'm active, I can stand pets having babies I can take care of them by myself before any of you ask.

Edit; Spammers get the f*ck out.

Cats suck. Get a dog.
"Within every world, there are cultures, within every culture, there are groups, within every group, there are leaders. These leaders are not truly chosen, they are destined, it is their fate to lead, and it is this fate that drives them. Souls yearn to be driven, they in themselves can not direct, however, these leaders are predetermined, by whatever means, to guide the wills and mend the errors of these wandering souls. A forest, cold, cured, flawless, meticulous, and fearful, what drives it, what keeps the balance? The inner beings of all the co-existant creatures swarm together, and every one is guided by another, in more a cycle, then a hierarchy. The eyes of a forest are always watching and guiding, yet the sun never sets on the forest, and it never shall." ~ The Chaos Theory

Cat. They're lower maintenance and will not annoy you when you're trying to work on something.

I'd advise dogs....mainly because I have one, and they're very friendly. Cats have an air of disdain or annoyance, dogs have an air of....ADHD and unconditional love.

air of disdain or annoyance
I can say the same for dogs. It's their ADHD that aggravates me when I'm near a dog.

I would go with Dog. Hands down.
Pros :
He/She will love you no matter what
He is actually trainable instead of simply blowing you off and doing whatever it wants instead.
He won't scratch up your furniture or eat your plants.
He could be used as a furry vacuum if you drop something while cooking ^_^

Cons :
Training can be a biscuit sometimes...
They are very hyper a lot which can be annoying... (but you can get many breeds that are VERY laid back)
They might kill other animals and bring them to you, but don't worry, its because they LOVE you!

I have a cat, and my cat likes me a lot, and follows me around. The problem is, when I try to do work, she sits on the keyboard or paper, which is annoying.

I have 2 cats and a dog, and I like all of them a lot, but I think dogs are best. Unless you run around a lot, try and get a laid back dog, mine is very laid back and is content to simply sit by me while I watch TV, go on the computer, eat, relax, w/e.

If may cats didn't sit on my work it would be equal though, they are both unique and fun in different ways.

If there's someone else to take care of the pet; Dog.

If it's your job to take care of the pet; Cat.

Also, if there's hot chicks at your park (if you have one within walking distance), get a small cute dog, and walk it often

They both are, but cats sit on my work, dogs don't. >_<

Oh, make sure your cat is smart, my sister's cat has fluff instead of brains and doesn't know what a litter box is.

I voted dogs, but I like cats too.
I'll give pros and cons of both as someone else did xD...

Cat Pros:

-More intelligent than dogs usually

-Smaller than dogs and lower maintainance

-Less hyper than dogs

Cat Cons:

-Cats are by well earned reputation quite often lazy, and them being less hyper is a detriment to people who like having active pets.

-Furballs...dogs when trained usually won't go to the bathroom indoors unless its poorly trained, but cats often throw furballs around inside. Still less maintainance on average though.

Dog +

-Dogs are hyperactive often and like to play.

-Dogs are loyal and usually more obedient than cats.

-Many are good for hikes and such, which cats are not.

Dog -

-Dogs are higher maintainance than cats overall, being larger usually, and more hyper usually.

-Dogs can be annoying sometimes more than cats, who ignore you more often than dogs

Both cats and dogs will bring you dead animals sometimes. Cats bring birds or mice, dogs sometimes bring larger animals, but its usually about the same. There is also more variety in dog breeds than in cat breeds overall, dogs range from smart and loyal, to strong and stupid, large to small. I have a cat and a dog, and they are both great. Overall, if you want a more laid-back pet get a cat, if you want an animal for the outdoors as well as indoors, and that is playful, get a dog.

But its also personal opinion. If you have more love for cats than for dogs, get cats. It really just boils down to individual animals in the end anyway. No two cats are exactly the same, and no two dogs either. Some cats are hyper, some are lazy. Some dogs are the same. I only gave pros-cons of OVERALL things about them.
Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

Lol, I had a cat that was 34 lbs. It was born to be fat and no matter what it was going to die young. Still it acted like a dog and listened to commands. We also got the fatest cat for our county.
