The feral masses are groups of Pokémon that have come together under feral pack leaders and have made coordinated attacks against us since the apocalypse.
- Black Mass
Leader(s):
The black mass, spread across the southern area of Karud, is split into two parts. We have noticed in our travels about New Terra City that this mass is comprised mostly of dark and ghost Pokémon. During the daytime, these Pokémon hide inside the forests around the little ocean inlet, and at night they venture forth and hunt humans in the area. Inside the forests and under cover, there is little light, and this seems to be enough for them to function. All of the Pokémon in this mass seem very averse to encounters with light, so carrying flashlights seems to be good enough to fend off most of the weaker members. We have a documented encounter with what we believe to be the pack leader as well. It is a Sableye, which is odd, but nonetheless assumed to be very dangerous. Our only indication that it is the pack leader is the great intelligence it displayed at one point, ordering other members of its group around during an attack upon New Terra City.
- Purple Mass
Leader(s): ???
The purple mass is an elusive mass that seems to travel all across Karud and never stays in one place. It is only identifiable by large groups of psychic Pokémon, along with assorted other Pokémon. It is also unique in that it seems to be the only feral mass where smaller Pokémon can survive, such as Pikachu or Bidoof. These weaker Pokémon don't appear to fight, but are strangely protected by the stronger psychic types. It is unknown what their role in the mass is, if any. The leader of this pack is also currently unidentified. The entire mass acts with purpose and as a collective, but there is no distinct issuer of orders that we can pick out. The mass is incredibly hostile at times, and at other times entirely docile. What drives the pack is unknown, but exercising extreme caution around it is important either way.
- Blue Mass
Leader(s): (Red)
The blue feral mass, centered at the bay in the northeast of Karud, is the largest of all of the masses. The mass consists of water-type Pokémon almost exclusively, and makes constant and coordinated assaults upon the Island. They are extremely aggressive and will attack any waterborne vessel or Pokémon not of the pack. The blue mass also appears to be incredibly proficient in siege attacks, being able to propel boulders, water, and other projectiles long distances to strike at their foes. Also, being that the water located there is so deep, it is nearly impossible to retaliate as they can simply dive in order to avoid attacks. Electric Pokémon seem to be the most competent at dispatching them, being able to electrocute entire sections of the water at a time to eliminate them. This seems to be the only way to get to the Island, although caution must be taken to avoid the sieges. The leader of the blue mass has been observed to be a red Gyarados, one of the most ferocious Pokémon ever encountered. It rampages throughout the waters, and if it is encountered, the recommended course of action is to somehow distract it - either with a Pokémon as bait or a person - and escape. Many good people and Pokémon alike have been lost to its ravenous and destructive assaults.
- Green Mass
Leader(s): ???
The green feral mass is the most recently developed and formed of the feral masses. Originally, the Pokémon of the desert outside of Haven were unorganized, but recently they have come together and have been making attacks upon our caravans. This is an immediate threat, and one that will have to be addressed at once or we risk losing the city and control of that area. It is unknown what the leader of the pack is, but it must have entered the area recently and started commanding the other Pokémon. It is noted that the sandstorms in the desert have become more frequent lately, perhaps to obscure the identity of the pack leader from us. This pack is composed mostly of rock and ground type Pokémon, which makes them incredibly resistant to attacks and very potent at attacking. What's worse is that we lack a lot of the capacity to fight back inside of the sandstorms they create, which gives them the constant advantage. We will have to come up with something if we are to stop this mass and save Haven.
- Yellow Mass
Leader(s): (Not Verified)
The yellow mass is a constantly migrating mass of flying-type Pokémon that roam the entirety of Karud. The mass as a whole tends to avoid the other masses' territories and spend most of their time in the center of the island around the crater. They spend most of their time harassing caravans and groups of travelers that attempt to reach one part of the island from the other through the middle of Karud. The yellow mass is extremely competent at hit and run tactics and staying hidden when they need to be. There also appears to be constant sunlight around the members of the mass, which is what lead us to the discovery of the yellow mass's pack leader. It appears, in our observations, that the only possible candidate for the mass's leader is a Ho-oh, an incredibly dangerous fire and flying Pokémon. If we are to make any advances upon this mass in order to destroy and/or stop it, we will need to be very wary of this legendary creature.
- Orange Mass
Leader(s):
The orange feral mass is focused entirely and exclusively at Blister's Gorge. The pack consists exclusively of prehistoric Pokémon, including Kabutops, Omastar, Cradilly, and Aerodactyl. Their tactics include guerrilla warfare most of the time, popping out of the sand and parts of the canyon to surprise their prey. One of their primary tactics is to attempt to knock travelers off of the bridges that connect land islands over the crevices. What makes it worse is that there tends to be high winds here, so falling off is even more likely. This mass could otherwise be avoided if it weren't the best mode of crossing the center of Karud to reach the other cities, such as New Terra and Whitecrush. The leader of this pack has been observed to be an extremely large and ancient Armaldo. This creature, clocked in at roughly 24', has huge reaping claws on its arm that let it scale the canyon walls with relative ease. It has been the end of many travelers through the area, and extreme caution must be displayed when he rears his nasty head in combat.
- Red Mass
Leader(s): ???
The red feral mass was the first of the feral masses to form, presumably made by the remaining Pokémon of the elite four. It is also the single, most-threatening of all of the feral masses. It is extremely aggressive, moves to slaughter any and all trainers in many areas of Karud in night and day. It is also the most varied of the feral masses, including the most dangerous Pokémon of almost all possible types. It spends most of its time centered on the Precipice and the ruins of Djatyr, the elite four's city. The leaders are unknown because there are suspected to be more than one and because the mass is so diverse and tiered in its organization that the true leaders cannot be discerned from 'squad' leaders. Its organization and coordination is the most perfected of all of the masses and the
most caution must be taken when encroaching on their squads. Their type diversity, raw strength, and tactics are unparalleled in all of Karud's masses.
