Susan nodded at the man's report, frowning. "That makes sense. It makes things a little harder for me now, but it makes sense. One-oh-five was a military Vault. Doubt you'd find much information on Vaults like that. Most of the personnel were USMC. They kept pretending they were, long after the bombs fell."

She paused and thought for a second. Started up again in a low tone. "We dealt with weapons a lot. Repairs, maintenance, even manufacturing. It was part of our training. Take a good look at my pistol if you don't believe me. I guarantee you won't find anything like it in all the Wastes the world over, and I doubt anyone outside of a Vault has the equipment to make anything of that caliber."

Although the information sounded solid, Hector just didn't have anything for it.

"That's well and good Susan." He turned his head a little to the left.
"Maps make a note of Vault One-Oh-Five..." The man behind Hector punched a few keys.
"Military Installation manned by descendants of the U.S armed forces. Highly motivated and trained with custom made high grade weapons and ammunition. Well stocked on high-grade weapons manufacturing equipment. Numbers unknown but expected to be moderate. Designate level Omega Threat and suggest at least a Company of Talons to crack the Vault."
Maps punched in everything his CO said verbatim and then glanced over.
"That'll be all Maps." Hector stated before turning back to Susan.

"Vince..." Hector commanded.
"...shoot her."

She was moving before Hector finished speaking. Truth was she'd been moving before he even started. She'd been nudging her right boot, slow and easy. Nobody had commented on it. She kicked up with her foot, bringing the boot up with it. Caught it left handed and dragged something out with her right. She was twisting and lunging off the bed in the same swift movement. She went after Red, because of the brass knuckles. And because she was closest to where she wanted to be. She lashed out with the thing in her hand as she turned, slashing across the other woman's forehead. It was a six inch blade with almost no hilt at all, just a few thin straps of leather corded tight around it. Susan could feel the blade cut against the leather and bite into her hand as it impacted with Red's forehead, just above the eyes.

The lunge had enough force behind it to bring them both out into the hall. Red's face was drenched in her own blood. There was a curtain of it pouring down into her eyes, blinding her. Susan shoved her against the wall and slammed her elbow into the side of the other woman's head. Then she went to grab at her pockets, searching for a weapon. Red was dazed by the blow and blinded by pain and blood but still had enough presence of mind to fight back. She brought one of her fists up, brass knuckle and all. It swatted ineffectively against Susan's forearm. Then she brought a knee up, right into Susan's side. The one with the fresh bullet wound. The spasm of blinding pain that followed was almost enough to bring Susan to her knees. Her vision blurred and blackened and went back to normal all in the same instant. She groaned, stifling a yell. Closed the distance between them. Brought the blade back up and made to cut Red again, the adrenaline rushing through her helping to stem the pain at her side.

The action happening next to him was almost a shock. He knew the woman was desperate, but the fact that Red was caught off guard was obscene. She was the one itching to break the woman's neck in the first place after all. He swung his shotgun around in an almost instantaneous motion and pointed it at the two of them, flicking the safety off. He moved into the doorway and aimed his shotgun at nigh point blank range at the both of them. There was little room for hesitation, the obvious solution would be to shoot them both and be done with it. Somehow, though, he knew he couldn't kill Red simply by virtue that the commander would blame himself for bringing this stupid b*tch here in the first place. But...

Noticing in a moment that the woman's back was to him and she was focusing on Red, Vince clicked the safety back on and raised his Shotgun's butt above him. He took a powerful forward downswing with the butt of the weapon at the back of the woman's head as she was making another strike at Red's face. The chances of him missing his mark were low.

Hector watched the scene play out in slow motion.
Susans lunge, Red being struck and knocked into the hall, Vince moving to cover them both.
Maps moved to protect his data, Hector himself finding his knife drawn, black blade with gleaming edge waiting, screaming for some meat to carve, some flesh to dip into. Vince was closer to the door...he took action first, bringing his weapon up and back down in a vicious snapping blow.
Susan would fall like bricks on Jupiter if it connected.

Hector moved to support Vince if the unlikely occurred.

As she was bringing her blade up, Susan took a gamble. It was the sort of decision that was made completely on instinct, instantaneously, almost without thought. Calling it a split-second decision would be grossly undercutting the speed involved. It was a decision based almost entirely on one question. Would the guy with the shotgun, the one closest to her and Red, shoot at Susan, taking Red along with her, or would he try something else? Shooting them both would be easier. Susan had no chance at all of surviving if he shot, no matter what she did. The shotgun's spread would make sure of that. Susan's answer to the question was itself based solely on a feeling, a vibe she'd gotten from the guy.

Susan dodged right, barely avoiding having her head caved in as the shotgun flew through the now vacant air. He was nowhere near as fast as she was. She lunged forward with the blade now occupying her left hand, making to slash at Vince's unprotected right hand, hoping to get him to drop the shotgun. Her right forearm was on a collision course with his neck. Her face was a mask of red, anger and fear and another woman's blood intertwined.

The girl was fast, he had to give her that. He was still in the motion of swinging his shotgun when she was already turning back around to take a sweep at his lightly gloved right hand. The blade laced around the back of his hand, peeling back the skin and cutting fairly deep. Try as he might, he twitched his right hand and pulled the trigger with his right hand with the gun pointed right into Red's back. The gun didn't fire. He had clicked the safety on before engaging in melee combat with the woman, keeping her in the game and not making it a bad day for friendly fire.

He grit his teeth and shot the woman a very, very pissed off look. He let go of the shotgun with his gauntlet'd left hand and went straight for her throat with it, something she had made absolutely no attempt to guard with the positioning of her arms and the way she was lunging.

The unlikely had occurred and Hector was poised to strike.
The doorway was fast becoming a massive tangle of arms and legs. Ducking to the right side of the doorway, Hector had pushed into the hall to support Vince in the attack. Vince missed in his assault, Susan striking out and managing to disarm the Talon Mercenary. Vince retaliated by lunging forward with his gauntlet.
Hector struck at the same time.
The naked blade in his hand was a black fang. His arm snaked out with blinding speed and accuracy.
His goal: to sever the link between foot and leg, the gleaming edge on a path to rend the muscles and flesh of Susans left ankle. His right arm lashed out from left to right, his left arm poised, hand open , ready to defend his body and face.

Susan saw the man's fist flying straight at her. It was moving impossibly slow. She could see the corded muscles further down his arm, tense with anger and adrenaline. His eyes, fixated on her face. Maybe her neck. There was intense concentration there. She knew he'd hit, even as she tried to move away from the fist. She was moving too slow. Her muscles weren't responding. The gunshot wound in her side was screeching in pain, the stitches tearing with the strain of the fight.

A second before the world went black she felt the cold bite of steel digging into her leg, tearing past muscle and sinew. She could feel the gash and her blood flowing down, slipping past the blade. Then her head went numb and her vision was gone and she felt no more.
