David Eddings: Belgariad

Post by TheIrishPatriot » Mon Feb 04, 2008 8:04 am

The Belgariad was the first Fantasy series I read. I liked it so much that I basically went "Golly gee, if this is what fantasy is, what's the rest like?!" It's still a fun series to reread every now and then. But I've been looking over it, and some things don't seem as good as they used to. Good vs. evil, ok, but the good guys are autocrats, so that doesn't stack up! Garion gets magic....and uses it half a dozen times. The Prophecy of Light is so pure and perfect that it's above the gods, etc, etc...but it's critical and sarcastic. Thoughts?
