Leveling warriors is easy.

Psht, I filled a level with them and figured I wasn't bored enough to kill them all.

I ran out of food :(

EDIT: ****! Dark Elven Priest blinded me so I couldn't do magic, them confused me so I couldn't make it to the stairs. Law's dead. Let me try to get him up there a third time...

Dude, you can savescum. You're story crucial. They're in /lib/sav/.

I don't know what this savescum is, but if it's a method of cheating the system to bypass death, that's hella lame.

That IS hella lame and kills the whole point of Angband. I personally don't think any scummed dump should be posted here. Actually, I thought a copied save would decay outright, but apparently I'm wrong...

Besides, I can work one re-incarnation into the plot easily enough. After my character is alive and the challenge starts, the next death is a story death. Besides, I'm working on Steven (he died as well, but since I never posted anything for him I'm just whistling, turning away, and starting anew) and perhaps a third character when Law and Steven die.

Yeah, savescumming is considered cheating of the highest degree.

The only reason I haven't died yet is because I carry 10 potions of cure critical wounds always and have free action. Unfortunately this means I have to go up twice as often.

Free action? I don't know how that works, but I assume it's like a potion of speed, which turns a losing fight for a warrior into a hilarious murder-fest.

Fun fact: Steven killed Mugash and almost all of the kobolds on a speed potion and got killed by the third to last one because I wasn't watching health closely enough. :(

Seems you need to dive deeper :D

Free action prevents paralysis and such. You should have it by the time you're at Dlvl20, otherwise the next paralyzing monster that comes along will cherry-tap you to death. It's frustrating when you see something that does 1 damage per turn own you from full health because you were paralyzed. You should also have immunity to fear by that point, a whole bunch of items give it, including Holy Avenger, Defender (I think), several weapon artifacts, and I think artifact armor.

First wave of quests is up for anyone interested. If you accomplish anything, post in the tavern your screenshots. If you still want to join, feel free to do so in the tavern.

Question: If one wants to try playing Angband, how hard is it to learn compared to say...Nethack?

It has instructions, unlike Nethack. It's also much, much easier in normal gameplay due to there being a town (Unless you're doing challenges), but the goal is harder, and there is a larger variety of effects and such. It's more number-based than Nethack. You can find articles on the distinctions between -hacks and -bands.

At least there aren't footrices in Angband. In fact I don't think there's any instadeaths besides Touch/Finger/Potion/Whatever of Death. Unless I'm wrong again?

Oh, and no set levels. Every level gets randomly generated.

Bah, Kigilin died, but that we're the achievements he got:

Killed Farmer Maggot and his dogs
Killed bullroarer

I actually needed one more Manes to kill, and I still didn't find an Artifact
